# Estimate credits and pay-as-you-go

> Prepaid credits versus per-request billing, the $99 submission fee, and topping up when a value runs high.

ESX estimate requests are paid for one of two ways, and the two fees land at different times:

* **Estimate Credits** — a prepaid balance purchased in packs of 5, 10, or 20. One credit covers up to $20,000 of estimate value, credits don't expire, and a $99-per-estimate-type fee is charged when you *submit* the request. If the final estimate value runs higher than your applied credits cover, you can stack additional credits when you accept it to close the gap.
* **Pay as You Go** — no upfront purchase; the same $99 per-type fee at submission, plus 1.5% of the estimate's value above a $6,600 threshold, charged when you *accept* the estimate.

A couple of worked examples make the overage math concrete:

| Scenario | Overage fee |
| ---------------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Pay-as-you-go, \$35,000 estimate, no credits applied | ($35,000 − $6,600) × 1.5% = **\$426** |
| Same estimate, with 1 credit stacked at acceptance | Threshold extends to $26,600 → ($35,000 − $26,600) × 1.5% = **$126\*\* |

Credits stack additively on top of the pay-as-you-go threshold rather than replacing it — so applying credits always lowers your overage fee, never resets it. If you request with Credits and don't have enough balance, you'll need to buy more or switch to Pay as You Go before resubmitting; there's no automatic fallback to charging your card for the difference.

Buy credit packs from **Settings → Store**, and see your balance and full purchase/usage history under **Settings → Billing**. The Store is also where a couple of other purchase-related odds and ends live — like affiliate links to recommended field hardware (currently an Insta360 camera) — alongside the estimate request flow itself.
