# Understanding roles and permissions

> What each of the four roles can see and do, including granting a Technician the ability to create jobs.

Every user in your company has one role, set by an admin, which controls what they can see and do:

* **Technician** — documents jobs: photos, scans, readings, scope sheets, notes. Can be granted job creation by an admin.
* **Project Lead** — everything a Technician can do, plus creating and closing jobs, managing job status, and building estimates/proposals.
* **Admin** — full access, including team management, billing, and company settings.
* **External User** — its own real login account, not just a shared link — typically set up for a customer, adjuster, or property manager. It sees only the jobs it's specifically added to.
