# Work tags vs. work notes

> Checkbox flags describing the work done versus written posts with real formatting in the activity feed.

"Work notes" refers to two related things:

* **Work tags** — quick checkbox flags (water, fire, mold, containment, demolition, etc.) applied to a job or location to describe what kind of work occurred there.
* **Work note posts** — actual written entries you add from a location's Work Notes tab (or via Copilot/Walkthrough), which appear in the activity feed, can be edited or exported to PDF, and sync automatically.

A work note's editor supports real formatting — bold, italics, headings, bulleted and numbered lists, and links — and photos can be embedded directly inside the body of the note, not just attached alongside it. Type `@` and start typing a name to tag a specific teammate, everyone on the job, or a whole group; they'll get a push notification pointing them straight to the note. Keep individual notes reasonably concise (well under a few thousand characters) so they stay easy to read on a phone screen.
