Don’t have a LiDAR-capable device on hand? A location map can also be created by uploading a photo of an existing sketch, or by drawing the room’s walls by hand directly in the app. Either method produces a map that’s ready to take moisture readings on, the same as a LiDAR scan.
Using a hand-drawn plan for a sketch order
Once a hand-drawn map is placed on the Master Floorplan, it is recognized in the estimate request in the web app and counts toward the Xactimate sketch order, so the request isn’t blocked for lack of a scan.
The area of the rooms you draw is included in the square footage used to price the sketch, and drawn maps are counted alongside scans in the warning that lists how many maps were included in the Master Floorplan.
Only maps that carry real geometry count — either a LiDAR scan or rooms drawn by hand. A plan created by uploading a photo of a sketch has no geometry behind it, so on its own it does not count toward the sketch order or the square footage.
