Switch to voice mode to speak your question and hear Ripple’s answer read back in real time — useful when your hands are full on-site. Every voice exchange also lands in the text transcript, so nothing is lost if you switch back to typing.
To start a live voice conversation, use the phone (handset) button in the message box. The message box has the typing field on top and a row of buttons underneath it, with the phone button on the far right, next to the microphone.
The phone button only appears while the typing field is empty. As soon as you type something, that same spot becomes the Send button, so clear the field if you want to switch back to talking.
While you are recording or while Ripple is listening in a live call, an animated waveform shows the sound coming through.
Voice mode follows the same rules as typed chat, so you can ask “how do I…” questions out loud and get an answer taken from the help center articles — or a plain “I don’t have anything on that” when the help center doesn’t cover it.
If you ask for a change in a live voice session, Ripple reads the whole confirmation question aloud — the job code and address, the change it is about to make, and any note text it is about to post — and you answer out loud with “yes” or “no” instead of tapping a confirmation card.
Once it commits, Ripple says what was done, and where the change can be reversed it offers an undo you can trigger by saying “undo” out loud.
A spoken answer can’t hand you a clickable link, so Ripple reads out the name of the article it used. The link to that article shows up in the chat transcript, where you can tap it after the call.
To keep things fast and fair for everyone, Ripple has built-in usage limits. If you hit one, Ripple tells you plainly instead of failing silently
- Voice calls can run for up to 10 minutes each. At that point Ripple pauses and tells you it has reached the limit for one session. Tap play to carry on, and the conversation is kept. Each person can start up to 20 voice calls per day.
- Typed messages are limited to 30 per person per hour, plus a company-wide daily cap. If you hit either one, Ripple asks you to wait a moment and try again.
- Company usage allowance. Your company also has an overall Ripple usage allowance for each period, which covers both voice and typed chat. Once it’s used up, Ripple tells you so until the next period starts. If your team regularly needs more, contact TrueRestore support. The allowance can’t be raised from inside the app.
