Legacy tracking follows individual physical units by an assigned code, giving you a full placement history per asset.
- Register your equipment catalog under Settings → Equipment — create an equipment model (Dehumidifier, Air Mover, Air Filtration Device, or Miscellaneous) with its specs, then add individually coded units to it.
- On a job, open Equipment Tracking on mobile, or the job’s Equipment tab on web (labeled Equipment (Legacy) if your company has switched to codeless tracking), choose a unit from the catalog, and assign it to a location.
- Update the unit as work progresses — Placed, Active, or Removed — with an optional note or photo each time. Moving it to another location records the move.
TrueRestore uses this history to calculate how many days each unit spent on-site, giving you a per-asset record you can reference for billing or maintenance. Each equipment model in your catalog carries a few industry-standard specs:
Not sure how many units you actually need for a room? See Sizing equipment with the Equipment Calculator.
Updating a unit
Each update adds an entry to the unit’s history: where it was, its status, and when.
On mobile:
- Open the job and go to Equipment Tracking.
- Tap Update on the unit’s card.
- Fill in the update:
- Location: where the unit is now. Pick a different location to record a move.
- Time: when the change happened. Set the real date and time if you’re logging it late.
- Status: Placed, Active, or Removed.
- Additional Notes (optional).
- Select Confirm.
On web: open the job’s Equipment tab and select the unit. Use Add Entry to log an update, or Edit Entry on one of its entries to correct it. Delete Equipment removes the unit and its history from the job.
To update many units in one step, see Updating or deleting several pieces of equipment at once.
Which units you can pick on mobile
In the equipment picker on the Equipment Status form, each unit in the list carries an availability badge. A green dot and Available means the unit is free to place on this job; a grey dot and In use means it is currently deployed on this job. Rows marked In use cannot be selected.
Availability comes from the unit’s most recent reading on this job, not from whether it has any history there. A unit whose latest reading is Removed reads as Available again — with a small “was here” note showing it has been on this job before — so you can place it in another room on the same job.
A unit logged as Moved still counts as in use, because a move relocates the unit within the same job rather than taking it off the job.
While the job’s equipment list is loading or refreshing, the badge reads Checking… and no unit can be selected until availability is confirmed. This always settles — if the refresh fails, the picker falls back to the last known list rather than staying locked.
The picker refreshes the job’s equipment list each time you open it, so a unit you placed a moment ago in another room is reflected right away.
Offline, availability is worked out from the downloaded job data plus any readings still waiting to sync, so a unit you removed offline shows as available without needing a connection.
